Children’s Museum to build barn for outdoor classroom

The Children’s Museum of Memphis will soon start building its barn.Grinder, Taber & Grinder Inc. filed a $101,905 building permit to construct a metal barn building at 2525 Central Ave.The barn will be used as an outdoor classroom area for field trip programming, according to Carrie Roberts, director of public relations and media.The barn, which will have electronic cows students can milk, will have a giant milk bottled which was donated from a defunct South Memphis dairy.The whole project, slated to open by late fall, is being paid for by a $150,000 grant from the Assisi Foundation of Memphis, Inc.
