The Downtown Memphis office of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC is about to undergo a $2.1 million interior renovation.Contractor Grinder, Taber & Grinder Inc. applied for a building permit with the city-county Office of Construction Code Enforcement. The new lease is for 10 more years.It also comes with new exterior signage for the law firm at the 16-story tower. The lit signs on the north and east sides of the building were approved in November by the Design Review Board of the Downtown Memphis Commission.Belz Enterprises, which owns and occupies space in the building, also will get a lighted sign.Belz received approval from DRB for a third sign, which it hopes will help attract another tenant. Peabody Place Tower currently is about 65 percent vacant.
