A French restaurant in Midtown Memphis will expand its footprint to Downtown.

Tart Cafe, located at 820 Cooper St. plans to open a second restaurant, called Tart Express, inside One Commerce Square.

A building permit filed July 25 for 40 S. Main St. had a $83,500 value for tenant infill. LRK Inc. was listed as the architect, CAAS as the owner, Tart as the tenant and Grinder, Taber & Grinder Inc. as the contractor.

The new location is listed as “coming soon” on the Tart website.

Brett Grinder, vice president with Grinder, Taber & Grinder, said Tart will provide catering and fresh food dining. The space Tart will occupy opens up to the main lobby in the hi-rise building.

“We are underway with construction and will be working through to complete in September,” Grinder said. “It will be a very nice amenity and addition to the building to have available to the tenants and surrounding area.”
