A Germantown retailer is relocating to Saddle Creek.

Southern Avenue Company, a home décor and gifts store currently housed at 7582 Southern Ave., plans to move to a 2,000-square-foot retail bay in Saddle Creek between Lily Rain and Kendra Scott.

“We absolutely love our current quaint location and all the charm, memories, customers and new friendships that have come with a place you’ve put your heart and soul into,” said Melissa Kimbrough, owner of Southern Avenue Company. “Our reason for relocating is simply location. New customers have a very hard time finding us, and our current customers frequently tell us we are off the beaten path and wish we were somewhere easier to get to.”

A building permit was filed Aug. 16 for the build-out of the future Southern Avenue Company's Saddle Creek location. Grinder, Taber & Grinder Inc. was listed as the contractor on the permit valued at $200,000.

Kimbrough said they plan to open the new Saddle Creek store in fourth quarter 2016.

The store will offer the same inventory but will expand the men’s gifts category and lighting, as those are two of the most demanded product lines.

With the relocation also comes new hires. Kimbrough said they anticipate hiring up to eight new employees.

“Saddle Creek offers Southern Avenue Company exposure and visibility it cannot get anywhere else, and Southern Avenue Company offers Saddle Creek an undeniably unique offering to their center’s customers,” Kimbrough said. “It’s a perfect partnership for both of us.”

Saddle Creek opened in 1987, and is currently wrapping up a multiyear remodel and expansion on the 173,000-square-foot center, which is managed by Trademark Property Co.
