Grinder, Taber & Grinder, Inc. has spent more than five decades strengthening our community, and we take great pride in building responsibly for future generations. Our LEED® Accredited Professionals continually seek opportunities to integrate sustainable building practices, ensuring environmental stewardship remains central to our work. In addition, our team can help clients identify available incentives and financial programs that support sustainable investments which maximizes both environmental and economic value.

This commitment has positioned Grinder, Taber & Grinder, Inc. as a regional leader in green construction. We built the first LEED® Certified building in Shelby County and the first net-zero energy office building in Tennessee. Our projects have incorporated green roofs, recycled concrete, and locally sourced materials to reduce transportation impact and support the local economy. Our work at Memphis’s Crosstown Concourse contributed to its recognition as the world’s largest LEED® Platinum certified historic adaptive-reuse project.

We were also the first in the region to use mass timber, a prefabricated multilayer wood panel that allows for fast, low-waste construction. This material provides long-term carbon storage and offers durable, cost-effective structural performance with significantly lower embodied carbon compared to steel or concrete.

What is LEED®? 

LEED® is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED® provides building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
