Orion Federal Credit Union is moving forward with its new branch in Southeast Memphis.
A $1.9 million building permit was filed Wednesday, Oct. 13, for the branch's construction at 3852 Hacks Cross Road.
The branch is set to replace Orion's current location just 0.7 miles to the south.
The existing branch was built with brick in 2003 but is south of Highway 385. The new location would contain about 3,100 square feet on 1.2 acres and resemble the credit union's new Medical District branch, at 821 Poplar Ave., according to the bank’s approved application with the Memphis & Shelby County Land Use Control Board.
Orion has grown quickly in recent years, recently hired a veteran commercial real estate banker, and moved its headquarters to the Edge District earlier this year.
Grinder, Taber & Grinder Inc. was listed as the contractor on the permit.
