Grinder, Taber & Grinder was contracted by the City of Arlington to renovate and expand its existing Town Hall, delivering a major upgrade to a facility that had evolved over several decades. The project included a roughly 3,000 SF ground-up addition that more than doubled the City’s available office space, along with the renovation of approximately 5,600 SF of existing offices and meeting areas. In total, the project encompassed about 8,600 SF of improvements.

A key challenge of the project was tying new construction into an existing building that had been built in three separate phases over time. Differences in structure, layout, and past construction methods required careful planning and extensive coordination throughout the job. The work also included installing a new flat roof system over an existing pitched shingle roof, which added additional technical and sequencing challenges.

Despite multiple change orders and unforeseen conditions, the project team maintained the original schedule through proactive field coordination, strong communication, and a solution-driven approach. The finished Town Hall provides the City of Arlington with expanded space, updated functionality, and a significantly improved facility. The City expressed strong satisfaction with the final result, especially the team’s ability to deliver the project on time while adapting to evolving scope and conditions.
